Henry Clay

War Hawk Churchill Single Cigar

The Henry Clay War Hawk Churchill is a brilliant, rebellious masterpiece that completely flips the script on what a Connecticut-wrapped cigar can be. Historically, the famous Henry Clay brand (originally established in Cuba in 1840) was known for producing dark, rustic, and incredibly heavy cigars clad in Connecticut Broadleaf wrappers. For the War Hawk release, the blending team at Altadis U.S.A. deliberately went against their own traditions, crafting a blend that delivers a complex balance of New World zest and old-world refinement.

First Third: The cigar opens with an immediate surprise, subverting expectations for a typical light-colored wrapper. A rich, creamy texture blankets the palate, bursting with sweet cedar timber, toasted cashews, and a distinct punch of white pepper on the retrohale. Faint wisps of vanilla bean keep the profile highly balanced.

Second Third: Moving into the main section of the elongated barrel, the blend's unique construction takes hold. The sweet creaminess begins to integrate with deeper, darker characteristics. Notes of dry oak wood, rich earth, and a delicate touch of citrus zest emerge, backed by an intensifying sweet baking spice.

Final Third: The conclusion scales up in focus, transitioning seamlessly into a solid, robust medium presence. Heavy layers of fresh espresso beans, charred oak, and a lingering peppery spice take center stage. The smoke remains thick and entirely cool, finishing with a crisp, long-lasting wood and cocoa aftertaste.
